DAVID SEGAL JOINS THE RACE TORQUE
THE RACE TORQUE is pleased to announce that respected industry figure David Segal will offer his Motor Sport experience and insight in the form of a semi-regular column, starting this week.
David is perhaps best known to current motor sport fans as the long-time manager of current Supercars Championship stars Craig Lowndes and Will Davison, and Super 2 Championship front runner Jack LeBrocq.
What many may not know, however, is that David’s background is journalism – starting his career as a reporter for Auto Action whilst still at school, before turning to journalism professionally.
At 19 he was appointed Editor of Van Action magazine, making him the then youngest magazine editor in Australia. He edited Auto Action, had senior editorial roles at Motor Manual and The Video Age, contributed to Juke music magazine, and was a reporter for Australian Associated Press (AAP), radio 3DB, Fox FM and more. His final role in journalism was as Motoring Editor of The Sunday Observer newspaper.
In 1986 David established his own public relations consultancy, known today as Media & Communication Services, before expanding into Driver Management in 2003 with Advantis Sports Management, bringing his specialised knowledge of the sport and professional business expertise to the Australian motorsport industry.
Now, a desire to ‘return to the keyboard’ after more than three decades away will see David contribute a series of columns for The Race Torque, under the title ‘The Big Picture’.
We’re looking forward to the insight and analysis that David will offer on the current state of the sport – it perfectly matches our goal of offering educated, informed and rational discussion about the key issues and stories around Australian and international motor racing.
The first ‘The Big Picture’ column will be published first thing tomorrow morning, right here on theracetorque.com.
