TOWNSVILLE GOOD, QR not quite so much is the verdict when it comes to TV Ratings from the pair of Supercars events in Queensland across July.

The Watpac Townsville 400 continued the trend of improved FOX Sports numbers this year with both Race 17 and 18 gaining digits on last year.

Saturday’s Race 17 was up 5% on 2018 to 153,000 people while Sunday’s wet-weather thriller (178,000) was up a huge 26% on the same race twelve months ago, making it the fifth-most watched race on FOX this year.

12 of the Top 20 programs on FOXTEL on the Townsville Sunday were related to Supercars programming, with other highlights including 85,000 for the Super2 Race and 84,000 for Supercars Trackside.

Channel 10 ratings from Townsville were not promoted: neither race reached the top-20 free-to-air shows on either day, thus their audience numbers are not freely available.

Queensland Raceway was the first weekend this year where both races had lower numbers than the same event in 2018.

Saturday’s 98,000 was down 9% on 2018 (108,000) while Sunday’s audience of 136,000 was just 3% down on the same race last year.

Overall, FOX Sports ratings remain comfortably increased on 2018: Averaging 166,000 per race, which is up 14%.

The British Grand Prix drew 95,000 on FOX Sports 506, while the German GP thriller last weekend pulled 111,000.
