POWER RANKINGS: ESERIES ROUND 10
SO THE truly wonderful BP Supercars All Stars ESeries has come to a conclusion with a double header at Oran Park and Bathurst, respectively. The Power Rankings powered by Yellow Cover are here to sort the Wheat from the Chaff, as usual.
WORDS: Richard Craill, Mark Walker, Dale Rodgers, Tony Schibeci
IMAGES: Supercars
We’ve loved tracking the Hot, the Not and the What of the ESeries, which has provided Social Media gold and lots of laughs for the last 10 weeks.
Don’t worry, the Power Rankings aren’t going anywhere, either. As well as returning for real-world Supercars racing, we’ll be back next week with the finite, ultimate, totally awesome ESeries Top 10 Power Rankings summing up the whole shooting match.
Get on our socials @theracetorque and tell us your thoughts now.
HOT
1. SVG’S TITLE
NEVER really looked in doubt after he really hit his straps mid-season. Imperious performance despite serious pressure from the wildcards and Anton on Wednesday night.
2. ORAN PARK
What a track. May not have produced the best race of the series the accuracy of the iRacing take on Oran Park was extraordinary. Camera positions, undulations and surface changes made you feel you were watching the real thing.
Oran Park is the reason I love Motorsport. I adore that race track and it’s pretty special that it lives on virtually #VASC

OP memories; first meeting with the new pit building we could not see the main straight from the media room. We grizzled to Tony Perich, so he got on the blower and had a builder come in and install a big-gish window for us. A real can do kind of bloke #VASC

Oran Park looks a million bucks. How good. #VASC
— Richard Craill (@Craillsy) June 10, 2020
3. SHANE AND ANTON
At it again! Anton spins again. SVG has to re dress again. Two of the best e Series racers – let’s hope this continues for real in a few weeks’ time. If the Penrite driver has his #99 switched on we may have some great battles with these two – throw in Scotty, Chaz and a few others and bingo!
4. BAIRDO
We LOVE the ‘it was a return of serve’ call. Let them play on.

5. MATT STONE RACING LIVERIES
ALL three cars got the new (virtual) paint tune-up for the final round, and looked Superb!

6. EMILY JONES
Excellent track previews. Why didn’t she get a wildcard?
7. REAL RACING IS NEXT!
I mean, we’ve loved it. But thank god..
I hope they include “remember, you can’t drive through other cars in pit lane” in the drivers briefing at Sydney Motorsport Park when the real #VASC series starts back up.

8. NO TIME CERTAIN FINISHES
YES! We got one folks. Races went all the way! You beauty!
9. ORAN PARK TOWN LIVERY
Well done to the Oran Park town people for jumping on board with Will Davison and backing his car for the final round. Great idea!
Final Round tonight and very proud to run this livery. Thanks @oranparktown for the support. Will be special to race once again at this legendary iconic circuit, albeit virtually.

NOT
1,2,3,4 and 5. WHAT THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO DO NEXT WEDNESDAY?
Here at TRT central and in households around Australia, Wednesday night has become the new home of motorsport – a chance to pop a cold one, sit in front of the TV, shoot the shit on Twitter and generally forget about the fact that the world is tearing itself apart piece by pandemic-influenced piece for a few hours mid week. It has truly, honestly and without any sort of sarcasm, been the best thing to have happened during this enforced break from real-world racing.
What am I going to justify Wednesday night fire pit and beers with after this ? 🙁 #VASC

I’m a little emotional, that’s it, it’s all over.
— Samuel Lockhart (@LloydGSR) June 10, 2020
If I were in charge of programming I’d play the Seekers hit, The Carnival Is Over during the closing credits.#VASC
.@supercars Thanks for the weekly distraction. Midweek beers won’t be the same. #VASC
— Dan Owen (@dano606) June 10, 2020
Thank you @supercars, that was just brilliant. Fantastic effort to keep the motorsport community going through this craptacular time with a weekly dose of sanity. Hugely appreciated. #VASC
— Mark Walker (@markwa1ker) June 10, 2020
Given the incredible success of the @supercars #Eseries this year during these unprecedented times, I hope the Eseries becomes an annual Championship from now on. It’s been so much fun to watch and it shows that #eSports gaming is alive and well. #VASC
— Trystan Spooner (@TrystanSpooner) June 10, 2020
Well done to everyone involved. @supercars have put on easily the most professional and exciting ESeries campaign of any motorsport category. Something to look back on with pride. Managed to keep our fans all entertained during a very difficult time. https://t.co/LmRLtYs9LH

Weeellll, not quite as good as the first Bathurst finish earlier this year..

7. WILDCARD MIXUPS
Who are all these guys? Harley, Zak, Brodie, Broc. Okay, sure.. we are kidding, but to be honest having the decider of the whole series being high jacked by two interlopers took the shine of it a bit. Yes they are good, yes they are rising talent, but the stars of the show should have been the real Supercars drivers. Anyway, they drove well, so well done.
8. PIT ENTRY
Scott McLaughlin’s pit entry at Bathurst. Yikes! That and a few scuffles ruined his race chances but the pit entry ‘off’ brought back plenty of memories of days gone by at Bathurst. And it was his Birthday!

THERE was some argument over this in TRT Central.

Big Brother
My daughter knows tonight is the last night of the #VASC eSeries.
— Samuel Lockhart (@LloydGSR) June 10, 2020
She’s happy because she thinks that means I’ll let her watch Big Brother three nights in a row next week because “nothing will be in TV.”
Not a chance.
I’ll watch replays if I have to.
