TRT Destined for Bathurst 6 Hour Podium
The Race Torque has one foot on the Bathurst 6 Hour podium, even before the Easter classic is run.
Ok, so there may only be two cars in the Class E – Compact division, but our hopes are behind the Raceaway Track Time/ Road to Bathurst crew of Phil Alexander, Stephen Doorey and Shane Fowler, who will take TRT’s colours into battle on The Mountain.
The team’s weapon of choice is the proven Mazda 3 SP25, a tried and tested pocket rocket in production car ranks, which will go up against a similar machine from the Beller Motorsport crew of David Worrell, Andrew Jackson, and Cameron Beller.
The slightly less than prominent TRT signage will share space on the side skirt of the car with the Shakedown Facebook Group, who are amongst the most diehard of trackside fans at the Mountain.
For friend of The Race Torque Fowler, this weekend represents his first Bathurst enduro start – we covered his awesome back story last year in his role as the local motorsport signwriter.
In that yarn, it was noted that the very first cars he applied liveries to were Alexander’s production car Nissan Pulsars, with the duo still associated with the modern incarnation of New South Wales-based Pulsar Racing.
The baby car division will be one of the eight classes to watch out for on race day.
Starting at the top, Class X caters for Ultimate Performance, the leading BMWs and a lone HSV GTS, while A1 – Extreme Performance Forced Induction covers cars such as the Lancer EVO X, WRX STi, AMG A45, BMW M135, Audi TTRS, the BMW 140i and the VW Golf R.
A2 Extreme Performance Normally Aspirated is the domain of further HSVs, the Mustang, C63 AMG, and the Lexus RCF, while B1 High Performance Forced Induction covers more BMWs and another WRX STi.
In B2 High Performance Normally Aspirated is a pair of Holden SSVs, while Class C Performance covers the Holden Astra, Renault Megane, Mazda 3 MPS, BMW 130i, Mini Cooper S, and the VW Scirocco.
Finally, Class D Production includes the Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, BMW 125i, VW Golf, Mazda RX8 and Honda Integra.
There are plenty of stars set to take to the track, including Marcos Ambrose, Will Davison, Anton De Pasquale, Thomas Randle, John Bowe, Tony D’Alberto, David Russell, Jayden Ojeda, Aaron Seton, Steve Owen, Tyler Everingham, Jordan Cox, Ben Bargwanna, Tony Quinn and Grant Denyer, amongst many.
On track action kicks off Friday.
