National Transport Museum
You have to go far and wide from the beaten track to find this showcase of all things automotive, but the National Transportation Museum in the northern New South Wales town of Inverell is a thorough revelation.
If it’s transport, it’s there under this one impressive roof.
From cars to trucks, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, boats, trains and a Sydney monorail, no matter your field of interest, there will be something in the collection for you.
The cars make up the bulk of the showcase, featuring vintage, veteran and classics combined with contemporary and competition.
As you can see in this gallery, there is a fair mix in play.
Form an electric Ford Capri to a supercharged Mazda RX-7, a Bathurst 1000 Triumph Dolomite, a 1906 Dayton, believed to be the only one left worldwide, there are plenty of pieces to gawk at as you break up your drive through the far reaches of our backcountry.
All told, the museum features over 250 exhibits, plus a library and a wide range of automobilia.
The National Transport Museum is open every day from 9am – 4pm at 69 Riffle Range Road, Inverell.
