Family Bargwanna Joins B6HR TV

FATHER-AND-SON Bathurst Touring Car racers will join the broadcast crew locked in to present coverage of this weekend’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event at Mount Panorama.

The event will see two days of coverage on free-to-air TV on SBS, SBS HD and SBS VICELAND, plus additional broadcast time on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo Sports.

2000 Bathurst 1000 winner Jason Bargwanna and his Supercheap Auto TCR Australia racing son Ben will join the broadcast team this weekend.

While Bargwanna Snr’s experience is well documented, Ben’s flourishing career includes several Bathurst 6 Hour starts racing an Audi TTRS with the family-run team.

He’s also a race winner in TCR Australia this season driving his Hangcha Forklifts Peugeot TCR car and last year contested multiple rounds of the TCR World Tour alongside his domestic racing commitments.

Both will spend time in the lane and also in the commentary box adding their unique and enthusiastic insight into the broadcast this weekend.

The pair will join an experienced crew covering the event in what is shaping as a bumper year as the race returns to free to air TV for the first time since 2021.

Experienced broadcaster Aaron Noonan will anchor the broadcast across both days, hosting from the pit and paddock areas throughout while also adding his voice in pit lane during the main race and key supports.

Six-hour regular Richard Craill will lead the commentary team in the box for the 6 Hour race, while Brian van der Wakker – who has featured on the B6HR broadcast previously – will join Craill and the Bargwanna’s in the box for the big race.

Van der Wakker will also lead the support race call on key categories while while a doyen of Mount Panorama and Aussie motorsport journalism, Garry O’Brien, will also feature throughout the broadcast.

Coverage commences on Saturday just before midday on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo, while SBS ONE and SBS HD will show live coverage from 1pm AEDT.

Saturday’s coverage includes extensive support race action and Bathurst 6 Hour qualifying.

Coverage on Sunday starts at 11:30am AEDT with pre-race build up before the 11:45am AEDT race start on Sunday morning.

Sunday’s coverage will be aired on SBS VICELAND, Fox Sports 506 and Kayo.
