Johnston Craill to expand two two cars in 2025

JOHNSTON CRAILL RACING ENTERPRISES will expand to two cars for the 2025 Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series.
Young South Australian pilot Jack Boyd will join the team for the 2025 season and will drive a #38 Ford Mustang alongside the existing #8 entry piloted by Asher Johnston, who returns for a second Aussie Car campaign.
The team is also proud to announce a partnership with Inverell Ford, the country New South Wales-based Ford Dealership joining the team as a major partner for the 2025 season.
Inverell Ford signage will appear on both JCRE entries this season, while the pair of JCRE entries will be towed to each round this year by brand new Ford Everest (car 8) and Ford Ranger (car 38), secured from Inverell Ford.
South Australian-based alcohol distributor, Empire Liquor, returns to support Asher’s car this year via their Badger ‘Fursty Ferret’ beer brand.
Boyd’s addition comes following a lengthy offseason of planning and development within the Adelaide-based team.

Boyd, 22, has contested selected Aussie Racing Cars events following his debut in the category in 2019, aged 16.
As well as multiple starts at the Adelaide 500, Boyd most recently contested the Phillip Island round of the 2024 championship and recently won the opening round of the South Australian State ARC Championship held at Mallala.
Boyd followed in the footsteps of his father, Glenn, who has been a longtime Aussie Racing Cars competitor in his own right. Both will join the JCRE program with Glenn to run Jack’s car at events this year.
Initial plans have Boyd contesting a partial campaign in 2025, including Round 1 of the championship at Sydney Motorsport Park and the pair of South Australian events later in the season, as well as a State Championship campaign.
Johnston returns for his second ARC season aboard a rebuilt #8, entry looking to put into place learnings from an exciting, if challenging debut season in 2024.
Pending confirmation of final sponsorship, the intention is for #8 to feature at every round this year.
Formed in late 2023, Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises is a partnership between multiple state and national racing champion Asher Johnston and Motorsport media man Richard Craill.
The team is supported by key partners, including Inverell Ford, Graphic Art Mart, City Rural Insurance Brokers, BimStruct Drafting services, Crystal Clear Audio, Ballarat Performance Auto Wreckers, Hooligators, Heinrich Performance & Tuning, Tonsley Crash Repairs, The Race Torque.com, Check it out graphics and Revolution Racegear Adelaide.

ASHER
“We have all been working flat out in the offseason to try and build on what we started last year.
“Ultimately, we didn’t get results but we learned more than we thought possible about how to go about this kind of racing and now is our chance to put it into practice.
“The support we had from the Aussie Car fraternity in year one was outstanding so it’s exciting to go back.
“The first half of the year is pretty resource hungry with long trips to Tassie and Perth, so at the moment we’re focusing on performing in Sydney and then building from there.
“Can’t wait to get back in the car!”
JACK
“I’ve been driving these cars for quite a long time but never in an environment like this or with a teammate to work with.
“Asher and I can push each other to improve and get both cars to the front of the grid which is the ultimate goal.
“It’s exciting. Our goal is to do the full season, sponsorship permitting, but either way it’s going to be cool to be on the grid in JCRE colours and having a proper crack this year.”

RICHARD
“You might say we are running before we can walk, but there’s a method to our madness.
“Jack and his Dad, Glenn, have a huge amount of experience in Aussie Racing Cars and having a second car accelerates our ability to get up to speed. It will also be great for Jack to have a teammate to bounce ideas off, so it’s win-win for everyone.
“It’s also important to me to help develop the sport in South Australia and in particular, young drivers from this part of the world.
“And the cars look utterly fantastic together so clearly there’s no going back now.
“We are quite ambitious in our goals long term, including the potential of expanding to additional cars, and this is another step to building our credibility while at the same time giving both cars the best chance to be competitive as well.
“We have worked extremely hard commercially to build the program and we’re proud to welcome Ben and his team at Inverell Ford along for the ride. He’s a bigger motorsport nut than I am so we get on brilliantly and we can’t wait to do some cool things with them this year.
“They join our other new and returning supporters – and there’s more to come in that space. We’re trying to build something that can benefit all our supporters in the long term.
“We will be on the grid in Sydney, looking great and putting on the best show we can.
“I say ‘we’ – the two boys will be on the grid. I’ll be in pit lane, probably losing what little hair I have left.”
