TV RATINGS: Solid Sydney as FOX exclusive ends
THE FINAL sprint round of the Supercars championship was also the final round of the year to be broadcast exclusively on FOX Sports 506, and it delivered more strong ratings for the Subscription TV broadcaster.
While there was no night racing to give that prime-time ratings nudge as in previous weeks, the audiences were all above average for Foxtel, prior to the Seven Network returning next week and for Bathurst two weeks later.
Saturday’s Race 26 delivered 136,000 – bang on the season average – as motorsport programming filled 15 of the top-20 rating slots on the day.
Race 27 early on Sunday afternoon dragged an audience of 137,000 (The average for that timeslot is 119,000) while the Race 28 thriller drew 167,000 – identical to Race 24 held on the late Sunday timeslot the week before.
Motorsport programming filled 17 of the top 20 slots on Sunday with Will Brown’s celebrations drawing 168,000 to top the day.
Fox Sports’ Supercars ratings remain up on their 2020 season to the tune of 3 per cent, despite no figures for Kayo Sports being released.
The streaming service recently confirmed a record number of subscriptions with more than 1 million people now using the application, with the streaming figures expected to add at least 20% to the overall audience numbers reported via the traditional, linear broadcasts.
In Formula One, Sprint Qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix drew an impressive 93,000 viewers, which is larger than the US and Mexico races themselves drew in a similar early morning timeslot.
Ratings for the race itself won’t be available until Monday’s numbers are released on Tuesday.
