Striking livery for JB’s final TCM season

A STRIKING new livery and additional backing from one of motorsport’s great supporters will highlight John Bowe’s final Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters campaign this year.

Bowe’s Holden Torana A9X sedan will sport a technicolour livery this year, with hints of 1960s-1970s retro throughout.

Meanwhile, Tony Quinn will join Bowe’s legion of long-term backers with his Local Legends brand to appear on the Torana for the first time this season.

Bowe explained that the new livery was something of a tribute to a classic era of music, TV and entertainment.

“There’s a bit of a ‘The Partridge Family’ theme about the new livery, in that they travelled around, having fun and loving life,” Bowe said.

“That’s what we’re trying to do with this final TCM tour in 2023.

“I’ve got no artistic ability, so I handballed the job of the livery over to my partner Lesley. She and Aaron from Mint Signs in Bendigo came up with this design. I think it looks terriffic, certainly not something that’s been done before in TCM.

“I’ve only seen the renders but I’m looking forward to seeing the finished article.”

Bowe explained that the new relationship with Tony Quinn came about after years of competing together.

“I’ve raced against Tony for years, hung out with him, talked to him, told jokes with him for more than 25 years. In that time I’ve won a few races.. and he’s made the money!

“I envy what he has achieved in many ways, not the least of which is how he has rebounded from his accident last year.

“To get through the season I reached out and asked for some help and he readily agreed. He and his partner, Kate, have been great.”

Bowe’s 2023 tilt will also be supported by new supporter, Ranger Lifting – who back the Aaron McGill-run Ford Falcon GT that Bowe races in the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

Bowe will become a Ranger ambassador as part of their support this season.

Existing supporters Apex Steel, Rare Spares, Motor Active / Mobil 1 / Meguiar’s, Astron Tech and more will all continue to be involved in 2023.

The first stop on Bowe’s ‘TCM Testimonial Tour’ will be AWC Race Tasmania on February 24-26 at Symmons Plains Raceway.
