Aston Martin Vulcan to be demonstrated at Mount Panorama
A PIECE of Aston Martin’s performance and motorsport history will be demonstrated at the 2025 Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
Tony Quinn’s Aston Martin Vulcan – an ultra-low run, track-only Supercar developed by the iconic English brand in 2015 – will be on show at the 2025 event next February, both on and off the track.
Launched as something of a tribute to the iconic Le Mans 24 Hour race, only 24 Vulcans were ever made. Powered by an 800hp, 7-litre V12 engine, the car had a top speed of well over 330km/hr.
Quinn’s car was purchased in 2016 and is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. Based at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell, the Vulcan is seldom used and rarely seen outside of New Zealand, making its 12-Hour appearance even more special.
It will join another collection of exciting and outstanding machinery to feature in the demonstration sessions across the event, elements which have become a hugely popular part of the weekend.
Previous demonstration runs have included Liam Lawson in a Red Bull Formula 1 Car, Luke Youlden lapping the Brabham BT62 while 2024 featured both the iconic Ford Supervan and an unrestricted, special-edition Mercedes-AMG GT3 car.
The Vulcan’s addition to the event comes as Quinn launches the updated and expanded edition of his 2016 autobiography, Zero to 60.
Now running to a hefty 416 pages, the updated version of the book uses Quinn’s knack for a ‘gift of the gab’ to detail his life story, from VIP Petfoods, his driving career to his expanding Motor Racing empire, which includes key New Zealand and Australian circuits, plus a stake in Triple Eight Race Engineering.
Quinn also recently took over the promotion of New Zealand’s key national motorsport tour, the NextGen NZ Championships, which commenced last month.
It also documents his recovery from a significant crash aboard a Porsche in Townsville, dealt with in his typical ‘never say die’ approach.
The book has just jumped back to the top of the New Zealand best-sellers list, backing up the achievements of the first addition.
The book, which retails for $39.95, will be available to purchase at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, with Quinn to be on hand to sign copies at the event – in between steering the Vulcan.
Tickets, camping and corporate opportunities remain on sale for Australia’s International Enduro, to be held between 31 January and 2 February next year.
QUOTES
TONY QUINN
“One of the gifts I was born with was the gift of the gab & I’ve always said that the most important thing you can leave behind is your story. The original book went to number one in NZ & we were looking to run more copies but so much had happened both commercially & personally I thought it was important to add those in… I’d bought Queensland Raceway, was involved with Triple Eight, I’d suffered a massive car accident & I also wanted to include my top business tips for budding entrepreneurs!”
“It’s a pleasure to say the updated version, with 10 new chapters covering off everything that’s happened since 2016 where Zero to 60 finished off, is already a number one seller in NZ! I’d like to think it will be a hit in Aussie too!”
SHANE RUDZIS – Event Director, Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour
“As Zero to 60 demonstrates so well, Tony’s story and impact in both the sport and business is remarkable, so it’s great we can celebrate that at the event this year.
“I’ve had the pleasure of seeing – and hearing – the Vulcan run once before and it’s an incredible thing, the noise is phenomenal and it looks awesome. It’s really going to add something special to our demonstration sessions this year, which will once again have some truly unique, exciting and superb cars and drivers involved for the entertainment of our fans at the event.”
