Memory Lane: Ford Heaven
Back in 2004/5, The Race Torque was fortunate to be invited to inspect the private Harris Racing Museum in Brisbane - a special collection for lovers of Blue Oval Touring Car Racing. Collated by motoring and motorsport identities John and Craig Harris, the assorted machinery featured many significant ties to their own racing endeavours. The Eagle Farm warehouse doubled as the family race car workshop, from which their V8 Supercars Development Series team operated. Impressively, many of the old Group C cars were at the forefront of the category's revival around two decades ago, setting the scene for the class's

FOR AS long as he could remember, Hunter McElrea wanted to be an IndyCar driver. On Sunday, July 21 he quite literally lived that dream, making his NTT IndyCar Series debut with Dale Coyne Racing on the streets of Toronto - so of course we needed to get the lowdown. From the seemingly fruitless chasing of a drive all year to a late call-up to test for Coyne's team at Mid Ohio and then landing the seat for Toronto, Hunter tells the full story of the build-up, testing and then his debut weekend. From what it's like to drive an

Following our recent feature on 28 planned circuits for Australia, another motorsport project has come out of the woodwork, namely the Albany Motorsport Park in Western Australia. The initial concept calls for a 3.5km, 12m wide race circuit, a drift training area, a Motorcycling Australia-spec 2.4km long, 10m wide motocross track, a junior motorcycle track, clubhouse and amenities, a 4WD/ATV training area, plus parking areas and other facilities. It is envisioned that the race circuit will be able to split into separate sections depending on the user base, while the construction also calls for the revegetation of the central wetland

Continue readingPower Rankings: Sydney SuperNight/Late Arvo
The Repco Supercars Championship descended on Sydney Motorsport Park, with motorsport not only registering numerous HOTs and NOTs, but it also overdosed on WHATs and MEMEs. So here goes with your Sydney Motorsport Park Power Rankings... ABOUT THE RANKINGS: The TRT Power Rankings are compiled by your nominations from social media and edited by the TRT editorial team. They’re designed to give a balanced, as fair as possible critical overview of those things that excelled and those things that struggled at each event. It’s (mostly) a democracy, and what you nominate generates the order, so have your say next event via

HARRI JONES and Adrian Flack have swept Sydney before them to claim dominant victories in Round 4 of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park. The pair head into a mid-season break holding commanding leads in their respective title battles thanks to imperious weekends at Sydney Motorsport Park that saw Jones take pole and three wins in Equity-One Pro, and Flack achieve the same in SP Tools Pro-Am. Jones led home Dylan O'Keeffe and David Russell in the Pro class, while Flack was joined on the Pro-Am podium by second-placed Rodney Jane and Matt Belford.

In the coming months, The Race Torque will be taking a deep dive into the history of Queensland Raceway, which is celebrating its 25th birthday in 2024. To set the scene, we are first exploring the rich motorsport heritage in Ipswich, which led to the ultimate formation of the city’s motorsport precinct. For over a century, the pioneering of the sport in the area has provided many disciplines with places to race, and some surprisingly close to the modern Willowbank hub. Here is a selection of motoring and motorsport moments we have managed to track down in the lead-up to

THE Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia night race has gone to Harri Jones in a commanding victory under the Sydney lights on Saturday night. Jones led home Dylan O'Keeffe and David Russell in a lights-to-flag performance to take Equity-One Pro, while non-finishes for Dale Wood and Jackson Walls could prove costly to their title hopes. In SP Tools Pro-Am, Adrian Flack continued his winning ways, leading home Rodney Jane and Matt Belford in an action-packed battle. In cold conditions, Jones made the best of the starts and charged his way to an early lead over O'Keeffe. Walls lost ground
