Paddon makes it five in intense opener at The Bend

PETER PADDON has fended off Cooper Cutts in the most intense First Focus Radical Cup Australia race of the season to date, to continue his season 2024 winning streak in South Australia. ‘ In a tension-filled thriller akin to something from a Tom Clancy novel, Paddon wrestled the lead away from Cutts at the start of the 45-minute race on the 4.9km international circuit at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park and then spent the remainder of the race holding his young West Aussie rival off. The pair traded lap records out in front and while Cutts gave away three seconds throughout

This week On the Grid, we chat to Todd Hazelwood about his breakthrough weekend in the Australian Trans Am Series from the Shannons SpeedSeries at The Bend. Wild Porsche Action

OSCAR TARGETT has survived one of the most unpredictable Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia rounds in history to claim Round 2 of the championship at The Bend at the weekend.  The Grove Racing / EBM driver claimed a dramatic race three victory to win the round overall over Brock Gilchrist and Aron Shields - but the story was in no way as simple as the results indicate. The results now mean that Targett - the only repeat race winner of the season so far - holds a narrow outright series lead heading into Round 3 in Townsville, Brock Gilchrist just

Osborne on Top

CLAY OSBORNE has launched from second position to claim his maiden Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia race win, at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in South Australia.  Starting second, the McElrea Racing Kiwi got the perfect start and led the field uphill to the first corner, beating polesitter Brock Gilchrist into a lead he'd never lose. Osborne led home Oscar Targett and Gilchrist in Saturday's 25-minute opener with Ramu Farrell (Pro-Am) and Brad Carr (Class B) on top in the class battles. Australia’s Incredible Twin Engine V16 Throwback

Following the pandemic lockdowns across Victoria, positive stories from the motorsport world were somewhat hard to come by, but that time locked away in the shed is now bearing fruit. Recently emerging from one Melbourne skunkworks is a throwback to a certified legend of Australian motorsport: a recreation of Eldred Norman’s beastly Double Eight V16 special. Having established an engineering and car trade business ahead of the War, he moved into garden tool production before spreading his wings
